Pizza. Motorcycles. Za. Choppers. Slice. Sled. Cheeser. Rockers. Ooey Gooey Heaven on a pan. Panhead highway eater...
Frankie Flood is an extremely talented metalsmith and teacher, he's also one of most kind and generous fellows we've ever had the pleasure of working with. Frankie has been a steady inspiration for Clear Irons even prior to its inception. There is always a deep connection formed when we run across another whose interests, background, and goals track so closely with our own.
Frankie hand fabricated a series of pizza cutters inspired by American hot rods and choppers when pursuing his MFA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The character and flare embedded in these pieces led to many interviews, custom commissions, and even celebrity tattoos of his work.
Clear Irons worked with Frankie to develop a 3D CAD dataset and accompanying 2D documentation for his iconic "Easyrider" pizza cutter. We hope to help make a limited production run of some of his work in the near future. Click here to check out Frankie's website. Oh, and if you don't follow Frankie's Handverker blog, you're basically doing the internet wrong. Just sayin'.
