Eric probably became fascinated with the world of making stuff as a young kid over-extending himself in an effort to help everyone that came across his path. It's a habit of his. Strike up a conversation about something that is bugging you or seemingly lacking in a world filled with stuff and Eric will become fixated on producing the object out of thin air. After garnering dual degrees in Industrial Design and Metalsmithing from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he spent several years prototyping, sketching, and building Solidworks models for a prolific local design/engineering firm where engineers outnumbered designers 5:1. An ever-humble dude, it takes a while before you realize all of the projects he has been a part of. As he burned the midnight oil, he had his sights set on having more ownership of his product and design work.
Clear Irons is the accumulated effort of a guy who is more than willing to pull 80+ hour work weeks. After growing up on a farm and shouldering the workload of those accustomed to an honest midwestern upbringing, he hardly bats an eye at the daunting amounts of work ahead of us. His sleeves are perpetually rolled up. Eric's kindness and eagerness to help are matched by his experience and resourcefulness. He has collected a wealth of relationships that can benefit almost any client. The guy knows his stuff and lots of folks owe him one or two. He is constantly sketching with a succinct capability that brings ideas to life in a flash. He is a great person to have in your corner.
Eric seems to have more time than everyone around him. Somehow he works 12 hour days and still finds time to enjoy the life he has made with his beautiful wife and two dogs. Eric makes the most of slivers of free time by building hot-rods, motorcycles, furniture and the like. He is well traveled and enjoys long days in the saddle of his adventure touring bike while listening to info-documentaries in his helmet's speakers.
